Target material is a kind of material commonly used in electronic information industry. Despite its wide range of uses, this material is not well understood by the public. A lot of people are wondering what is the manufacturing method of the target material? How is it classified?

There are several methods of manufacturing the target material

1. Casting method

The casting method is to melt a certain proportion of the alloy material, and then pour the molten alloy solution into the mold to form an ingot. The target material is formed after processing. Casting methods usually require melting and casting in a vacuum. The common casting methods are vacuum induction melting, vacuum arc melting and vacuum electron bombardment melting. Its advantage is that the target material produced by low impurity content, high density, can be large-scale production; The disadvantage is that when two or more metals with significant differences in melting point and density melt, it is difficult to produce uniform alloy targets using conventional melting methods.

2, powder metallurgy method

Powder metallurgy is the process of melting alloy materials according to a certain proportion of composition, and then casting the molten alloy solution into ingots. The ingot is damaged, the damaged powder is statically formed, and then sintered at high temperatures to form the target material. The advantage of the target material manufactured by this method is that its composition is uniform; Low defect density and high impurity content. Common powder metallurgy industry is cold pressing, vacuum hot pressing and hot isostatic pressing.
