Tantalum is a lustrous, blue-gray, ductile, hard metal that is highly resistant to corrosion. It is an excellent conductor of heat and electricity and belongs to refractory metals. The main use of tantalum is in the production of electronic components, mainly capacitors, and some high-power resistors. It is also used to make alloys to increase strength, ductility, melting points, and corrosion resistance.

Tantalum can also be used for making thin lines of sewing tissue medically. Tantalum oxide (tantalum pentoxide, Ta2O5) can't react with any acid, so it's a good coating material. Tantalum carbide (TaC) is a component of the material that is used on the cutting edges of high-speed machine tools.

Tantalum Sheet and Tantalum Plate are made of dark blue-gray tantalum metal that is very heavy, ductile, and hard and has high corrosion resistance. Tantalum Sheet and Tantalum Plate are especially resistant to chemicals at temperatures below 150 °C and can only be dissolved with hydrofluoric acid. Tantalum Plate and Tantalum Sheet have a high melting point and are able to form extremely thin and protective oxide layers for high-quality capacitors, making it an excellent material for lumps.
