Niobium, formerly columbium, is gray like other metals and takes on a bluish tinge when exposed to air at room temperatures for a long time. It resembles the element tantalum and performs resistance against many chemicals. Niobium has a high ductility at room temperature.
Niobium is used mostly as an alloying agent to produce high-temperature-resistant alloys or special steel. Superalloys containing niobium are widely used winning various superconducting materials. High level of biocompatibility makes niobium has good use in surgery.
Niobium Bar/Wire
Niobium and niobium alloy rod, wire because of its high melting point, corrosion resistance, good cold working performance and other characteristics, widely used in chemistry, electronics, aviation and aerospace and other fields. Niobium and niobium alloy bars are used as structural materials for aircraft engines and rocket nozzles, reactor internal components and cladding materials, and various corrosion resistant components under conditions of nitric, hydrochloric or sulfuric acid corrosion. Adding zirconium to niobium can obviously improve the oxidation resistance and strength of the material. Niobium and niobium zirconium alloy wire are widely used in the manufacture of high-pressure sodium lamps and anode leads of electrolytic capacitors.
